Our presenters
Natalie Scott
Natalie has led the SMSF divisions of mid and second tier firms and understands SMSFs from the ground up – accounting, tax, structuring and advice. She has spent well over a decade immersed in the intricacies of how SMSFs operate, navigating an increasingly complex legislative and regulatory environment, and managing the issues that arise servicing client needs.
At Knowledge Shop, Natalie is an adviser's adviser, helping the profession clarify the practical requirements and opportunities of SMSFs. She brings this knowledge to her presentations and explores the issues in a very practical way – knowledge that is immediately transferable in practice.
Natalie is a Chartered Accountant and a specialist member of the SMSF Association.
Matthew Richardson
Matthew is the SMSF Manager at Accurium and has extensive knowledge in superannuation and self-managed superannuation funds. He is a qualified CPA and SMSF specialist adviser. He has worked at Accurium for over 10 years, providing actuarial certificates and technical assistance to Accurium’s large client base of accountants and SMSF practitioners.
Matthew is heavily involved in providing education through the Accurium Technical Hub. He regularly contributes technical articles, presents technical webinars and provides training for Accurium clients and staff.
Mark Ellem
Mark is a popular, experienced and highly sought after presenter who is passionate about educating accountants and SMSF practitioners about SMSFs and strategies to make SMSFs a successful part of their business.
He has extensive experience in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs), Pension Funds, Income Tax and Financial Advisory. He is a Fellow of the CPA, IPA and SMSF Association, and received the 2018 SMSF Association CEO award in February 2019 for his contribution to the association and was in the inaugural group of association members to advance to the status of Fellow in February 2020.
Mark has spent over 30 years in accounting practices and SMSF administration companies, including running his own accountancy practice and SMSF administration and compliance advice company for ten years.
Jason Hurst
Jason is an experienced commentator, presenter and writer on superannuation and retirement. He specialises in breaking down complex technical concepts for professional advisors and their clients.
He has over 20 years’ experience in the wealth and retirement sectors, working with accountants and advisers to build their technical skills in superannuation, retirement, Insurance, social security and age care, and enjoys helping to provide the tools to articulate these concepts in a simple and easy to follow way to clients.
Jason also works with the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA) as a subject matter expert for the CFP 5 program and a technical student mentor to those undertaking the CFP courses.
He has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Newcastle, is a SMSF Specialist Advisor, and holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
Anthony Cullen
Anthony is a new member of the Accurium education team and comes to us with nearly 25 years of experience in the accounting and SMSF industry.
He has previously held senior roles managing the SMSF division of a small accounting practice and providing SMSF technical support within a large SMSF administration business.
Over the years, Anthony’s roles have evolved from the accounting function of SMSFs to keeping on top of the ever changing technical and compliance nature of this specialised area.
